Welcome

Introduction

In August 2019 the South African Interventional Society (SAInTS) hosts the second Annual SAINTS/RSSA Congress. SAInTS is a subgroup of the Radiological Society of South Africa (RSSA) with the aim of promoting and developing high quality interventional radiology in South Africa.

The Congress will be held from 2 August 2019 (08:00) to 4 August 2019 (13:00) in Johannesburg at the GE Innovation Centre.

We have the privilege of welcoming four interventional radiologists from Europe and the United States to share their expertise and experience as part of the Faculty. The congress will focus on topics related to both routine and advance interventional practice and is therefore open to full-time and part-time interventional radiologists. There will be an emphasis on venous therapies and access.

Interventional Radiology is a rapidly growing field in Radiology with ever-evolving procedures and techniques. This congress hopes to build off the CME program SAInTS started in 2018 and provide a platform for learning and the pursuit of excellence in radiological interventions.

On behalf of the RSSA and SAInTS we express our sincere gratitude to GE Healthcare for the generous support to host this conference in the beautiful state of the art GE Innovation Centre.

The academic program includes case based sessions with audience polling and a number of simulators and stations.

The support of Boston Scientific, Medtronic & Merit is highly appreciated and meetings such as these cannot take place without their support and participation.

We are confident that this second annual conference will meet all expectations.
